About TreeDirect

This is a one-man show. The same two hands will cut, shape, design, finish, pack, and ship every piece that lands in your hands.

Born out of love and hate.

TreeDirect came to life from an adoration for discgolf and its community. For over a decade, I dreamt of integrating with the ecosystem surrounding the sport, but knew I would never be able to do that by throwing discs (quite poorly.) Love alone isn’t always enough to drive a dream.

Following many forced 60-hour work weeks on midnight shift,  the dejection and disrespect I felt had become too much to handle. This was the earliest rumblings of what TreeDirect would become: stemming from a hatred for the corporate grind and a dissatisfaction with my creative mind rotting away in complacency – I threw together an admittedly half-baked plan and quit what some considered a destination career. I walked away with a newfound, terrifying accountability that I alone was responsible for my level of career engagement and success.

I am committed to not screwing this up.

Sustainability

TreeDirect will not be cutting down trees for wood, but rather being opportunistic and reclaiming that which has already fallen. The goal is to one day source 100% of non-manufactured lumber from discgolf course creation and maintenance efforts.

Commitment

The discgolf community - you - are all that is making this possible and I am committed to making sure that no customer walks away with a reason to not come back. If you have any issues, reach out and it will be made right.

Who is TreeDirect?

Tanner

In 2011, only a year after graduating high school, a couple of my best friends and I went to Ace Handyman Discgolf Course in Fairborn, Ohio armed with only a handful of Innova starter discs.  To this day, I still throw and putt at the same level.
All jokes aside, over the next few years I would continually play courses around the Springfield-Dayton area with my closest friends, almost never keeping score, and just trying to get as many buddies on the course together at a time.  As I got more rounds under my belt, I discovered and gorged myself on online tournament coverage from the likes of The Spin, CCDG, and Jomez.  Being a part of this early discgolf growth, going to Idlewild before they sold tickets or had ropes, watching generational talent switch hands, seeing more and more businesses enter into the space – it all instilled in me a desire to be a part of it myself.

Throughout all of this I had worked several years of retail, gotten two college degrees, ran multiple YouTube channels, bounced between factory/warehouse jobs, and all of it failed to stick.  As I grew older and felt more dissatisfied with the life I’d failed to build for myself I finally decided to answer my longing for freedom, self-direction, and creativity.  I knew my dream job involved creating and I’ve always been savvy in multimedia as well as a bit of a handyman, which is where laser design and woodworking bled together to give birth to yet another punnily named discgolf company – TreeDirect.
